HMRC

The Gorse Fox is always concerned when he gets an envelope from HMRC (IRS for our American readers). Such an envelope usually means that Her Majesty’s Government has found yet another way inventive way to relieve him of his hard earned money. An envelope had dropped through the letter box whilst the Gorse Fox was up in town this week. With a degree of trepidation he opened it only to find that HMRC had assessed that they owed GF some money.
The Gorse Fox danced round the kitchen with the elegance of gout-ridden walrus. There’s a holiday in Thailand to pay for! He returned to the envelope – how much was the rebate?
Ah. £5.30 – probably wasn’t going to make a significant dent in the overall financial position. Evidently this some is so significant to National Debt however, that HMRC couldn’t be bother to reimburse it.
