Halnaker Windmill

The Gorse Fox climbed towards Halnaker Windmill and saw his first human being since leaving the car park.

The gentleman was walking down from the summit and stopped to chat. He had appointed himself a litter warden, and as he walked he picked up any trash he found. What a laudable effort.

As the Gorse Fox reached the summit, he saw another chap, fast asleep, beneath the sails of the Windmill.

Built in 1750 and restored in 1934, Halnaker Mill is one of the oldest surviving in Sussex. Painted by Turner, the mill stands at a height of 400 feet (121 metres) on the South Downs near Chichester. Although the stones have not turned since 1900, it was once again restored in 1955, this time by West Sussex County Council.

The sign on the gate say "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" - that's an understatement.
