Gravity

Gorse Fox has been pondering today's weather forecast.

Rain.

In fact, they predict about 15mm of rain across southern England. That got the grey cells stirred up. Given that mass can neither be created nor destroyed, it occurs that we should be wearing hard hats.

Let's define Southern England as, broadly all the counties that a are broadly south of line that cuts the country from east to west and bisect London. (Ignoring Welsh counties). This gives us an area of about 15448 square miles. Now assuming the dept of rain averages out at 15mm, then those grey fluffy clouds are about to dump 590,678,959 tons of water on us.

Update: Hosepipe ban still in force.
