The estate was in a beautiful setting. Huge oaks lined the driveway and this opened up onto a small roase garden with views across to the distant mountains.

The guide explained that the oaks had been planted to make the barrels, but the long hot summers and short winters meant that the oaks grew too fast and the wood was too porous to use for barrels, so they have to import the barrels (or wood) from the northern hemisphere. Posted by Picasa
