New Down

New Down
Originally uploaded by Gorse Fox.

It had been a long, but gentle climb to New Down. 30 minutes had passed. Gorse Fox had seen 1 car as he left Wepham, now up on New Down there was not a soul to be seen.

Solitude.

Silence, but for the gentle twittering of the birds discussing how to avoid getting the 'flu.

GF loved it, but as he descended this incline he realised he was the wrong side of the hedge/fence. Faced with the choice of barbed wire or a half-mile backtrack, GF assessed the hedge and its accompanying fence. Finding a suitable gap he charged, leapt, cleared the fence... then remembered gravity and started his descent at 32 feet per second per second. Thoughts flashed through his brain:

"You stupid bugger!" was one.

"This is going to hurt." was another
Impact.
Nothing. No pain. No black out. No sound of whirring rotors as the air ambulance arrived. Gorse Fox had made it.

Maybe he's not quite as old as he thinks he is.
More likely, he just got lucky.
