Not shy, but retiring

As Gorse Fox explained in this morning's post, be attended a colleague's retirement lunch yesterday**.

In Gorse Fox's career he has workd with many, many people, but few have been so downright decent as Ustinov. He worked with GF at Auntie's for a year or so. He took over after we had had two disasterous trolls running the project. Bit by bit he started to recover the situation, until it took its toll on his health.

Several stories spring to mind of this period. At one point GF remembers Ustinov leaving the studio to go to a meeting. As he opened the door his mobile phone rang. He answered and it became clear there was complex dialogue going on. Ustinov want to take notes, but standing in a corridor with a mobile phone stuck to his ear this was not easy... Thinking on his feet, he got off his feet and lay down in the corridor and started writing on the floor!

One morning, Ustnov came into the studio and began to sort out his papers. Again the mobile phone rang and he answered. The conversation went on for a few minutes and Ustinove started to pat his pockets; to look around; to move papers; to open his case and shuffle through the contents. He rose and crossed the room and rifled through the pockets of his coat; he emptied and repacked his overnight case. All the time he continued to talk to his caller, but was obviously getting concerned. Gorse Fox caught his attention "Can I help? What are you looking for?" At this Ustinov looked up and mouthed "I can't find my mobile phone!"

There were many other stories of his tenure, but GF will remember him as a decent man dreadfully treated by the trolls to whom he reported.

**In its own right this is a scary statement. I mean when you are young, you never get invited to retirement events. It only starts to happen when you reach a certain level of maturity!!!
