The Inexorable March of Time

The talented Cynical Cyn brought a smile to the Gorse Fox's face with this post. Several items had an alarming ring of familiarity. Though GF would like to point out that "The little gray-haired lady you help across the street is your wife." is absolutely not appropriate in his case.**

He would point out, in addition that certain of these items apply to most Sussex road users:

  • It takes a couple of tries to get over a speed bump.
  • The car that you bought brand new becomes an antique.
  • When you are cautioned to slow down by your doctor instead of the police.
  • You buy a compass for the dash of your car.
  • You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
Gorse Fox would add
  • You regard speed limits as reckless
  • You stop at the sight of oncoming traffic (in the other lane)
Beyond that what troubles the GF most is that he should find it a salutory warning rather than a litany of good sense and fair observations. Now, where did I put my glasses?

**Checks over shoulder... just to be sure!
